Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

It seems like now-a-days, we often find ourselves discussing what life used to be like. For some it is a discussion about life before the 2016 election, for some it is about life after the 2020 election, for many it’s about living with Covid, yet there are still many others who discuss life from decades ago; when we were children, living in much simpler times. This is so strange to me. Yet, I am living in the second half century of my life. Time as we know it, never speeds up or slows down. There are the same number of hours in every day. Still, time seems to fly by in a blink, which led me to ponder yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Yesterday is history, in the past, never happening again. No matter how hard some try, it is what it is… history. Noah’s 1828 defines History “as an account of facts, particularly of facts respecting nations or states; a narration of events in the order in which they happened, with their causes and effects.” In other words, time has already played out and been documented in some way. Yesterday is history, in the past. The Bible is filled with history that is 100% accurate that can be used to gain knowledge and wisdom.
Today is the set of 24 hours labeled by a number on a calendar. The time in which we are currently residing, also known as the present. I just love this! Today is the present, a gift that we get to open hour by hour, minute by minute, second by second. Noah’s 1828 dictionary has no definition for the word TODAY. Even the dictionary app couldn’t define the word “TODAY” without using the word “DAY” in the definition. But, I love that it is the PRESENT.
Tomorrow is the day following today! It can be quite a conundrum if you think about it too hard. Tomorrow has yet to happen. We can plan, we can hope, but we are not promised a single second. Again Mr. Noah had no definition to adequately define the word. It is simply a period of time hoped for that we have not been promised. It is simply a period of time waiting to become TODAY. Matthew 6:34 says, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for this day is its own trouble.”
Revelation 3:3 says, “Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.”
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (tomorrow). This is a fact that we can start each day with regardless of current events and the times we are living. A fact that can keep us grounded in the present and treated like a gift to be cherished.

I don’t worry about tomorrow because it is not here yet, and l don’t dwell on yesterday because it is gone, but l live for today because it is the present. A PRESENT FROM GOD! Amen!
Well done. Lord thank you for being in control of this world. I read Jeremiah 7&8 this morning, in time it could be today. History is repeating itself, our leaders are removing our history from site and from our educational books. I don’t worry about for me but for our grandchildren and greatgrans. We must teach them the truth. Just as your verses says, God’s in control. He has a place prepared for us, thank you Lord Jesus, Amen. Tell someone about Jesus today.
Amen.
