Will You Go?

Then I heard the Lord’s voice saying “Whom should I send, and who will go for us?” I said, “I’m here, send me.” Isaiah 6:8 (CB)
Isaiah’s answer here really made me think! How quick am I to answer the Lord’s call? If I am truthful; my response is not nearly quickly enough. As I read on in study of this verse, my commentary brought my attention to the fact that in the preceding verses Isaiah’s vision has caused him to recognize his own sin and only once he uttered his confession was he able to hear Christ’s call. Now I must examine myself – was I in a right relationship to even HEAR His call?
This call can be answered in a variety of ways, most often I think of actually a face-to-face witness experience, but that is not the only way we can “go”. We can be the hands and feet of Jesus by giving of our time, our material goods or by using our spiritual gift(s).
We must be listening…always. My mother described my grandfather’s problem of hearing my grandmother as selective hearing. Do we have that same disorder when it comes to listening for Jesus’ voice? Selective hearing, also known as disobedience, is banned in the kingdom of Christ. Disciples must always be dialed in to the voice of our Lord. *
We can “hear” Jesus speak with our eyes as we read His words in red letters – and the black ones also. The Bible, Genesis to Revelation is filled with the words and glory of Christ, inspired by the Holy Spirit, drawing his children to follow Him. The Scriptures are more than ink printed on a forest of dead tree bark.* The Bible is living and active and sharper than a two-edged sword.
Jesus wants willing volunteers in His service. As Kathy’s poem states – God may be waiting on us…will you go?

Oh I shutter at the thought of how many times I have failed to hear what my Lord is trying to tell me. Thankful for his mercy.
Thank you for these words, I am on that Road with miles go, thank you Lord for another day, Amen
