Who I Am

The night sky took my breath away. The moon was nearly full and the stars seemed bright and close enough to touch. These orbs of light hanging in a velvety black sky illuminated the pond. The light from the moon bouncing off the water’s surface made the night seem magical. Just warm enough for the crickets to hum a little I was tempted to take a seat and take in the night. The water moved in ripples and made the moonlight appear to dance across the pond. I could have been easily fooled into believing this was an early spring night. The slight breeze that caressed my arms had a chill that caused me to recall that it was after all, still winter.
I realized looking up into that great expanse of nighttime sky, just how small and insignificant I seemed. Am I too small for God to know me, to know about me? Absolutely not! Look at Psalms 8:3-6, “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou has put all things under his feet.” Wow! We are just a little lower than angels, crowned with honour and glory and have dominion over ALL things.
From Jeremiah we know that our Father has plans for us. Here in Jeremiah 29:11 we find, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil to give you an expected end.” Let’s look on to verse 12, “Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.” He will hearken unto us, He who hung the moon and the stars in the night sky and holds them there with His hand, promises to incline His ear to us when we call upon Him. Suddenly, I don’t feel quite so insignificant any longer. God knows me, has a plan for me, and has thoughts of peace for me.
God also knows you, He has a plan for your life and desires peace for you. There is however a great divide between God and man until one invites Jesus Christ into the heart as Saviour and Lord. This invitation serves as a bridge and closes that distance. There is no one else by which we can gain salvation. Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given men, whereby we must be saved.”
Call on that name, that wonderful name, the name of Jesus, close the distance between you and God and allow Him to fulfill His plan in your life.
