We're Not Left in the Valley

“Even when I walk through the darkest valley” Psalm 23:4 (CEB)

Back in November, November 13, to be exact, Sara posted a devotion in which she talked about the mountains and valleys of life.  As I read her post, I felt led to pick this thought to use in a later devotion.  When you have time scan back to November 13, 2023, and re-read her devotion, oh, how it applies to all our lives.

Reading it again myself, carried me to what is probably the most loved Psalm…the 23rd.  In this Psalm we find that we walk through the valley.  Take note of that…T.H.R.O.U.G.H.  Not into the valley or left in the valley.  We are led into and out of this valley by the Lord.  He goes with us into and brings us out of the valley, whatever that valley represents to you.

The remainder of verse four reads, “I fear no danger because you are with me, your rod and your staff –they protect me.”  What a difference those words can make in our situation!  Remember that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours. (Isaiah 55:8-9)  Our idea of how we can be brought out of the valley may be different that the actual plan already in place for us.  We must remember that God has our best interest at heart, don’t be discouraged if you see a different result as you are exiting the valley.

This valley can represent many things such as, sickness, loss, discouragement or depression, even financial problems. BUT God is bigger than any of these!  Trust Him and

know that there is no need to fear because He is there and protecting you!

Although you may not recognize it at the time, remember this from Romans 8:28, “We know that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

To the valley, while in the valley and out on the other side, God is with us in each and every step of the journey!
