We Are One

“God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him won’t perish but will have eternal life.” John 3:16 (CEB)
Sitting on top of a corner cabinet that I have in my kitchen is a collection of pitchers. Each one has a story, each one is different. They are of varying heights, some are slender, and others are fat. One or two have a crack or a chip – some are plain while others have a fruit or flower decoration. No two are alike, and regardless of the different appearances I love them all! Together they make up my collection.
As I sat down to eat a bite of lunch I glanced up at the display and thought about how much we as members of the Kingdom are like those pitchers. We all have different stories, we are of different shapes and colors – and there are even some that have been broken – BUT God!
God loves us all, He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35). We all make up the body of Christ. This truth is found in 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, “Christ is just like the human body-a body is a unit and has many parts; and all the parts of the body are one body, even though they are many. We were all baptized by one Spirit into one body, whether Jew or Greek, slave or free, and we all were given one Spirit to drink.”
God uses our differences for His purposes, though we are individuals we are as one in the body of Christ, working together for the kingdom. This is such an awesome thought!
Each believer is equipped with certain spiritual gifts and graces, which should complement the gifts and graces of other believers. As the Church we should combine our graces and spiritual gifts, to express the beauty of Jesus to a world that is dead in trespasses and sin.
Would you join me in today’s prayer?
Heavenly Father,
thank You that I am part of the Body of Christ and for the gifts and graces that You have given to me. I pray that I may live my life according to Your perfect plans and purposes. Use me to compliment the work carried out by my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I pray that I may be a beautiful testimony of the goodness and grace of Jesus Christ my Lord, to a lost and dying world. Unite the whole Body of Christ, with a dependent mutuality, so that as individuals we may be truly united as one Body, to serve You in the place where You have planted us. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.
