Trust for the Truth

Originally written as a children’s sermon:

Do any of you ever watch the news? Who has heard the term “Fake News”? What do you think that means? If I told you, you don’t have to listen to EVERYTHING your mama and daddy said, would you believe me? Am I telling you the Truth? No way! You would get in big trouble if you didn’t listen to your parents. You should always listen to your parents.

Where have you heard, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” What does “false witness mean”? Exodus 20:1 – It’s one of the Ten Commandments

What if someone told you Satan isn’t real? Would you believe it? If Satan isn’t real then that means God isn’t real. We know God is real because we can see everything he has made.

What is the opposite of Fake News and or a false witness? The Truth

You can always ask someone you Trust for the Truth. If someone tells you something and you think, Hmmm, I’m not too sure about that, or you know they are just making it up, remember you can ask an adult you trust if it’s real. For those of you who can read, you can research it. But I want you to know that there is always a place you can go to find The Truth, the Bible. And if you read it, memorize some of it, listen to the teachings of it, then God will help you discern the truth as you grow in God’s word.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Meaning if you know Jesus then you know God the father.

John 8: 31-32 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

As Christians, we are God’s disciples. We must work hard to know the truth and share the truth with those around us.

Dear Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that you have brought us here together and we are thankful that you have given us your word and can trust the truths that the Bible holds. Help us each to learn more so we can know the truth when we hear it and be able to share it with others. In Jesus name, Amen
