The Triumph of Faith

Exodus 1:8; Daniel 11:32; 1 John 5:4

For many years the people of God lived in Egypt with peace and prosperity. Because of Joseph, they had found favor with the ruler of this mighty empire and because of God’s presence among his people, the Egyptians also shared in the blessings. But there was a Pharaoh who rose up who did not know Joseph.

Obviously this new Pharaoh did not have any knowledge of Egyptian history or did not like how Egypt acknowledged Israel’s God. All of a sudden instead of seeing Israel as a blessing, he saw them as a threat!

It’s amazing that an event that occurred almost 3500 years ago is so familiar to us today. We too have been a nation that had been blessed by God and experienced the idea of Biblical freedom as close as any other nation in history. We have had our blind spots and bad moments, but overall everyone that has ever came to this country experienced the blessing and prosperity that can only be provided by our Judeo-Christian values. But now there has risen up leaders that do not know God.

For the next few years, Israel in Egypt suffered under the rigorous ideas of this new Pharaoh. But the more the suffering, the more God’s people prayed, crying out to God for a deliverer. It seems that this was a very weak moment in Israel’s history, but actually it was one of their best. We see in them the triumph of faith!

Daniel experienced a very similar situation in Babylon. Again God’s people had been enslaved, this time for their sins. As they were exiled in a strange land, we see them at their best, crying out to God in prayer with hope, patience and focus as they waited for those seventy years to be fulfilled. Once again we observe in their weakest moment the triumph of faith.

Daniel said “The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.” (Daniel 11:32) Notice he said they who know their God. Here is the great contrast and the encouragement for you and I today. We have leaders to today in government that don’t know Jesus, be we do! It may appear that this will be our weakest and most trying time in our lifetime. But they who know Jesus will stand firm and take the necessary action to be as faithful to him as they can possibly be. Who knows, maybe God, like he did with Moses, will send Jesus to gather his church together unto himself, or maybe like he did in Israel’s exile, raise up a generation like Daniel, along with his three friends, to lead America back to God again. Regardless, we have a guaranteed victory.

John said “This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4) We will triumph, because Faith triumphs!

Amen, we need to pray for the preachers of our Congress to stomp on their toes and tell them what God’s words say, maybe get their attention. Some are headed for Hell for their stance.
