The Robins are Here!

“As long as the earth exists, seedtime and harvest, cold and hot, summer and autumn, day and night will not cease.” Genesis 8:22 (CEB)

Spring of 2023 has arrived early, by the first week of March we were already covered in pollen and the daffodils and wisteria were in bloom. As Brooks and I were eating breakfast one of those mornings, he commented about the number of robins in the yard; the harbinger of spring. When the robins come, spring is here! Every spring that I can remember was heralded by the appearance of the robins hopping around, pecking the ground for grubs and such. That, my friends is many springs! They are consistent, always showing up right on time.

The arrival of the robins is not happenstance or coincidence; it is a pattern that was set in place by God Almighty! This consistency is a reflection of our Maker and the steadfastness of His character. We find this truth in James 1:17. “Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.” (CEB)

Every change of season should remind us of His sovereign promises, His creative power, and His timetable. God created seasons and they will last as long as the earth remains. Scientists would have us believe that there is some other phenomena causing an early spring, hotter summer or colder than ever winter – but as Christians we know Who set the seasons of the earth and the same One that set them keeps them constant!

What an awesome God we serve! And just remember that this same God, the maker of heaven and earth, the one that set boundaries for the ocean, times for the seasons and keeps the sun rising loves us beyond our comprehension!

There are many scripture verses that can be reminders that our always consistent and unchangeable God keeps His promises.

May Psalm 74:16-17 be our prayer of praise today.

The day belongs to you!

The night too!

You established both the moon and the sun.

You set all the boundaries of the earth in place.

Summer and winter?

You made them!
