The Lord Is My Shephered

Psalms 23:1

David takes an ordinary trade and makes an extraordinary claim about God. The Lord is my shepherd! Only God can bring the ordinary and extraordinary together in one place. He took an ordinary method of execution, the cross, and placed his extraordinary Son upon it for the salvation of the world. This Son is our shepherd who “Laid down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11.

Peter said that Jesus is the “Shepherd and bishop of our souls.” 1 Peter 2:25 Just as a shepherd in the ordinary leads his sheep by his voice and steps, Jesus, in the extraordinary life that he gives to his sheep, leads them by his word, the Bible, and the example of his life, when we follow in his steps. 1 Peter 2:21

When we make Jesus our shepherd then we will never

· Lack in anything (v 1)

· Always be led into righteous paths (v 4)

· Led through the shadow of death into eternal life (vs 4-6)

Meditate on this!

Psalms 23; John 10:1-11; 1 Peter 2:21
