Take Heed To The Message

Genesis 19:1-26

On the eve of God’s judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot’s message to his sons in laws was not taken serious. This had to be very disappointing to Lot. What’s even worse is that on the way out of Sodom as they were going to Zoar, Lot’s wife didn’t take heed to the message of staying focused and not looking back. The sons in laws died in Sodom and Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt, all due to their unbelief.

We have the tendency in good times to not take heed to the truths of the Gospel. What’s even more disturbing is not taking heed to it when obviously it’s prophecies are coming to pass right before our eyes. I think that in this present crises we need to start taking the Gospel more serious than ever before. The time at hand is very critical and so much hinges on how we as God’s people take heed to the mission that is set before us to acknowledge the reality of God’s impending judgement upon our nation.

Maybe Lot’s sons in laws didn’t take him serious because Lot didn’t take it serious to begin with. We don’t realize sometimes just how much non-believers observe our life and make judgement based on not what we say but do. The angels has to hasten Lot to get him out of there simply because Lot was tempted to procrastinate. But the Lord was merciful to him. It is evident that with the pandemic, civil unrest, natural disasters, and tension among the nations of the world that something on God’s prophetic calendar is going to happen. We should not take these things lightly, but seriously.

So let us do as the Hebrew writer said in Hebrews 2:1 “Let’s us take the more earnest heed to the things that we have heard lest we let them slip.” Let us take heed to the sermons that we hear. Let us take heed to the signs we are seeing. Let take heed to the symptoms of our dying nation as we have turn away from the living God!

In times like these, let us learn from this biblical story and not mock, procrastinate, or look back. Let us hear the words of Christ when he said “Remember Lot’s wife!”
