Seeing Clearly

“Open my eyes so I can examine the wonders of your Instruction!” Psalm 119:18 (CEB)
Some of you may recall this song from 1973 – “I Can See Clearly Now” … it was a favorite of mine for a long time. I had not thought of it for…well, years I guess until just recently.
Six years ago we had our screened porch redone using vinyl windows – they are amazing by the way! Last year when we cleaned the windows Brooks noticed some had some corner pieces that were broken so he called the company to find out what we needed to do about the problem. Fast forward to this spring and back to trying to see how to get the repairs done that didn’t happen the year before. Long story short, we had to have the original windows replaced and when those new ones were installed those first two lines of that song flashed through my head!
Waiting for the new windows Brooks and I had decided not to try taking out the old ones for cleaning so I’m singing, “I can see clearly now the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in my way!” as the new ones go in. In this, Jesus sent me a lesson. We can’t see Him and His vision for us without some cleaning. Just as my old windows came out and new ones were installed, Jesus takes our “old dirty” selves and cleanses us and then we can see!
This brings another song to my mind not a rock tune, but a much-loved hymn by John Newton, which states:
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch; like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see.
If you are having trouble seeing clearly, take a moment and ask Jesus to come into your life and do the necessary washing. Your blindness will be gone and oh how clearly you will see Him. For the one that has found their relationship with Jesus has grown distant and dimmed – ask for renewing for your heart. That will produce clearer vision too!

Thank the Lord daily for your blessing of sight to see his work and his Holy Ghost in each of us,
remember o PASS IT ON, AMEN
