When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me. Jeremiah 29:13 (CEB)
Brooks and I were searching for Jesus. We were taking turns standing before a print my cousin Joyce has hanging in her home. At first glance it is nothing more than an abstract scene. On one of my visits a while back she and her husband had me stand before the picture to see what I could see. Well, I couldn’t see anything other than the obvious…the print before me. “Look deeper”, her husband Dave said to me. So, with my nose nearly touching the glass, I tried focusing deeper into the picture, almost crossing my eyes. As I slowly backed away the image of Christ on the cross appeared! It nearly jumped out at me! Also in the hidden scene is the manger on one side and the tomb on the other. It is a 3-D scene that I felt as if I could touch! I had never seen anything like it. It is enough to bring tears to the eye.
Our most recent visit had us doing this exercise again to see if Brooks could see the image. He worked and worked at it until finally it appeared. It is truly breathtaking! The key to finding Jesus within the print is to search and search, not giving up. Searching with all your heart just like the scriptures tell us. There is also the fact that once you glance away, the image is lost. This tells me that once we take our eyes off of Jesus in our daily lives, the connection is lost for a time. Now, let me say this…Jesus is always there, we have disconnected on our side. The apostle Paul tells us in Romans 8:38-39 this truth – “I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.”
If a disconnect occurs, we only have to ask forgiveness and reach out to Jesus to be restored to him. He is there…always.
Are you looking for Jesus today? If so, look deeper and look with your heart. He will be waiting.

Nicely done devotion, Be On Lookout for Jesus, he is right by your side. Do you know him, if not just reach out he is standing next to you. Amen
