Seamless

In 2016, I attended a Women of Joy conference with my daughter, Lauren, along with several other sisters in Christ. One of the amazing speakers there was Angie Smith. She told the story of how she was once an unbeliever, but due to some unfortunate events in her life, she decided to attend a church. When she would sit in group study sessions, the leader might mention one of the heroes in the Bible and Angie would just smile and nod as if she was totally familiar with this person. When asked to turn to a particular chapter in the Bible, she would act like she knew where to turn but felt so inadequate as she had no idea where to go. To familiarize herself with the contents of this book, Angie would go to the children’s section of the big bookstores, sit on the floor, and read Bible stories. Since that time, she has become a believer and has written a book entitled Seamless. I purchased this book after the Women’s event. It is a Bible study that covers Genesis to Revelations. I completed the entire study by myself and then I used it twice to teach my teens in Sunday School. It is a great resource for any age who desires to learn important details in the Bible and a video is also available where Angie makes the book more personal as she shares her real-life experiences with the reader.
This week I would like to highlight some of the things I learned and took away from this book. Angie hooks the reader in her opening sentence as she says, “Take a deep breath and say these words with me. It’s going to be different this time. We’re throwing off anything that has held us back, and we’re moving forward in full confidence that He will bless us with the desire to know Him better.”
Now, here is the clincher. I had already purchased three cute composition books for no particular reason other than that they were cute! They had titles at the top of each book: Create, Dream, and Inspire. I decided to choose the one entitled Dream to use with my Seamless study. When I opened it, I found this poem on the first page that I had written right after the conference. I had no idea why I had written this poem. When I read it back to myself, it seemed odd because I didn’t seem so dirty and helpless, but there it was for me to read and reread. Maybe it had something to do with the conference after hearing those amazing speakers. It went like this.
Oh God,
You see me from the heavens,
So small, so dirty, so lost.
Cleanse me with your blood.
Wash me oh God. Break me into nothingness.
Show me how wretched I am…
Insignificant, unimportant, helpless.
Humble my soul.
Teach me to listen, to yield to Your Spirit,
To obey…to say, yes Lord, Is that You?
Show me Your grace, Your mercy, Your love.
Make me attentive to Your still small voice.
Breathe on me and whisper…
I am all you need.
I am everything.
Amen
God must have been preparing my heart for this study because He knew I had to come to nothingness as I began. I was to be attentive while listening to His voice as I was beginning a new chapter in my life. I will use the remainder of this week to share my thoughts from Angie’s book and from God’s Word. Stay tuned and I pray that you will be as blessed as I was!

Really loved your poem, thanks for sharing your talent, Amen.
