Satan was an Angel too!

We often hear the word or name Angel and we immediately think of a heavenly being with wings protecting, spreading love, flying or floating around in an ethereal world doing good.  When we hear the word or name Satan, we think of evil, demon possessed, someone or something that is ugly, who disrupts, steals joy, kills our goodness, destroys everything in his wake.  Satan was an angel.  Did you catch that?  Satan was an Angel.  Eve had a conversation with Satan in the garden of Eden.  She wasn’t afraid of him.  She didn’t find him disgusting.  She didn’t run away.  Satan was an Angel, albeit, one with an agenda.

When you are out and about, beware.  When someone is too pretty, too handsome, too slick, too talkative, too boisterous, too good, just too much, beware.  Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He will not show up with horns growing out of his head and teeth dripping with blood.  Satan or one of his minions will be cool, funny, handsome, quick-witted, and leave you enthralled.  Beware!  Satan was thrown out of Heaven because he rebelled and disobeyed God.  I think Satan was jealous. He wanted power.  Satan had enough charisma and charm that other angels followed him.  As Christians, we are supposed to put on the armor of God to be able to defend ourselves and bring glory to God.  As humans, we fail.  We forget and let Satan have a chink out of our armor.  Once its gone you have to work extra hard to keep your armor intact.

Teach your children and grandchildren about discernment.  How to use their knowledge of what is good and right and what God teaches us to know when to be a friend or when to walk away.

Its hard to think of Satan as an angel because we have been brought up to think ALL angels are good.  Being called Angel, as a pet name, is endearing.  Acting like a good little angel is sweet.  Playing the part of an angel in a Christmas pageant is fun. But we must NEVER forget that Satan was an angel too.

Matthew 7:15 says, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”
