Pride Goes Before Destruction

Proverbs 16:18
We are coming to the end of what has been declared as Pride Month. In June of 2021 President Joe Biden made this declaration to celebrate what is supposed to be the freedom that America is all about. Never have we as a country been further away from the truth. It is not a celebration of freedom but a celebration of immorality. It is a celebration of license or what the Bible calls Licentiousness.
There is a major difference between objective Biblical Freedom, of which our country was founded upon and subjective humanistic license of which man has become the measure of all things. What underlies all of this is that it is more than just the renaming or the redefining of morality, it is man playing God, or taking the place of God. Alexander Pope in his Essay on Man describes it like this:
Yet cry, If Man's unhappy, God's unjust;
If Man alone ingross not Heav'n's high care,
Alone made perfect here, immortal there:
Snatch from his hand the balance and the rod,
Re-judge his justice, be the GOD of GOD!
Man wants to be God! It is the same demonic pride that caused Lucifer to say within himself ““For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” (Isaiah 14:13-14) But God’s response to this absurd thought was ““Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.” (Isaiah 14:15) Indeed “Pride goes before destruction and a haulty spirit before a fall.” If we don’t turn back To God we will be like Sodom and Gomorrah, only more responsible because we have the Gospel.
To celebrate this movement is to celebrate the
· Redefining of sexuality
· Redefining of marriage/family
· Redefining what is life
· Redefining of what is Male and Female
· The ability to determine what sex one wants to be
All of this on the surface may seem like the freedom of choice but in reality it leads one to bondage and their own personal destruction as abuse (physical, sexual, and mental) and suicide is excelling at enormous rates among this group. Pride does indeed go before destruction. I write this with a broken heart because these things statics are hid from the American people by the corrupt media who has a feeding frenzy on the death and destruction of peoples lives.
This movement has taken one of the most precious symbols and reminders of the covenant that God made with Noah in that he would never flood the earth again. This sign is the Rainbow. After every passing storm we can see this promise of God and take comfort in the fact that there will never be another universal flood. But it does not mean that there will not be a universal judgment again. God will judge the earth and we know that his judgement will be just, as Abraham said “Will not the judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25) When Christ comes again “The heavens will melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the world therein shall be burned up.” (2 Peter 3:10) Not only will the heavens and earth be purged with fire but also the whole human race will stand before God as Christ will “Judge the living and the dead at his appearing and kingdom.” (2 Timothy 4:1) Man’s rebellion and pride will lead to his or her own destruction.
Revelation 21:8 says “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) These are they who in their pride thought that they could be or play God. Their destruction and damnation is eternal death, eternally separated from God, cast in outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. The only way for one to have eternal life is to humble oneself under the mighty hand of God by confessing his or her sins and surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
A word of warning is needed here. Paul in Romans one gave a list of the conditions of a corrupt, depraved society. After giving these conditions he gave a word of warning not only to those who were partakers of these immoral lifestyles but also to those who supported them as well. He said “who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” (Romans 1:32) Some Christians may not be for these immoral acts, but also too, they are not necessarily against them either. To have this attitude is to support it. There is no neutrality when it comes to truth. Jesus said ““He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” (Matthew 12:30) There cannot be two Gods! He is Lord and Lord alone and man is meant to be a servant of him. To see otherwise is the spirit of pride which leads not only to the destruction of a society, but even worse, the damnation of the soul!
Pastor Robby

I am with you on this God is not pleased and I am very saddened and and hurt by this! I want the world to know who I stand for and what I stand for! People will say let them be who they are and leave them alone I don't bother them and I am kind! This madness has to stop at some point we as Christians have to stand up for what we believe in and show the world what is right! I believe in treating people right but not accepting their beliefs God help this society I don't want any part of it!!
What a devotion! Wonderfully written!❤️
