Prayer for Today (make it our own)

Lord,

I sit here thankful that you got me out of my bed.  Thankful that you gave me a spouse who works hard, thankful for a very comfortable home, thankful for good health and plenty of food. Lord, I’m thankful for my children and grandchildren, for their health and happiness. I’m thankful for the birds and the squirrels that drive me crazy.  Thankful that I can sit here in peace and quiet and absorb the sights and sounds of your creation.  Lord, I’m thankful for my mama who is still here. I’m thankful for my flowers that God so graciously allows to flourish under my care.  I’m thankful for my church, my pastor, his wife, both who are good shepherds to their flock.  I’m thankful I know how to do many things.  I wish I were more organized and better able to do it with less stress. 

Lord I fail you everyday in my thoughts and probably actions.  I’m sorry for that and I really don’t want to do that but I fail in my sinful, human, way every day.  Please forgive me. 

Lord, there is so much that weighs heavy on my heart that I almost don’t know where to start.  Please, Lord protect this country, protect your people, soften the hearts of those who refuse to bend a knee.  Open their eyes that they might see what could be.  Lord, rebuke Satan from wreaking havoc with our media.  Cause the truth to be seen. 

Lord, so many among us are hurting.  Keep our congregation flourishing!  I truly believe our little church is your little church and we truly want to be the church set on the hill that will be a light to our community.  Keep our eyes focused on you Lord, not the things of this world.  Push us to serve others, if only in prayer.  Guard our borders that all who enter will find solace, and rest from a weary world and not come to create chaos and lawlessness.  Lord those who are amongst us that are lost, bring them HOME to yourself.  Keep us as your Family of God.

Lord, I lift up to you our lost nation that was built on your principals and doctrines and I lament how far we have fallen away from that. Please open people’s eyes as to what is happening in this country and around the world. Help them to see beyond themselves.  Lord cause our politicians to want pride in our country, loyalty, protectiveness, and un-divisiveness.

2 Chronicles 7:14  If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
