Praise In The Rain

Not again, I thought as I heard the rain begin to pour. What was just a drizzle minutes earlier had now become a gulley washer! I stepped outside onto the back porch to listen to the rain. Different sounds occur depending on where the drop hits. A myriad of musical rain drops were playing, a flat thud as drops hit the ground, a brassy ringing where the drops landed on the metal awning above the screen door, and then the plink-plink of drops on water. All at the same time; I thought of it as a rain drop symphony.
Even the rain drops make music for God, obeying the Word of God from Psalms 98:4, 7-8 which is, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth…Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together.” Boy, there is divine power in the shower!
Again in Revelation 5:13 we read John’s description of adoration from creation for Christ. “And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” What a vision this brings to my mind! To think that every creature imaginable, on earth and in the seas along with all of God’s children will be worshipping and praising God the Father and our Saviour, Jesus Christ. My mind is so finite, I can’t grasp what it will be like. My faith tells me it is truth and in His time it will come to pass, but for now I will praise Him in the rain!
Are you able to praise His name today? Are you broken-hearted, or down trodden? Read Psalm 147 and see that God is worthy to be praised and that He heals, He is understanding and He cares for you and me. Verse 11 says that He takes pleasure in those that fear Him. This does not mean He wants us to be frightened, but that in awe and reverence we hope in His mercy.
The next time you experience a storm or see the seas rolling, recall the verses above from Psalms 98 and know that even as creation praises Him, we, His children are to do the same.

Great devotion, I understand the feeling about rain and living on a farm, I had just finish reading Psalms 145,6,7 as part of my daily Bible reading. I. Know God was speaking to us about his world, Amen. Have a great day.
