Our Commitment In Uncertain Times

2 Timothy 1:12

One of the most common questions that I am asked is How did we get where we are today? How did our culture collapse into chaos, conflict, and confusion in what we consider a short period of time. There are married couples that are suffering through challenges with finances, infidelity, and unhappiness and they ask How did we get here? There are churches that are divided, split, or lost their zeal for the things of the Lord and ask How did we get here?

In order to go back we must find out where we went wrong to begin with. This is what the idea of repentance is all about. Turning and going back to our first love and recommitting our selves as a culture to God, falling in love again in marriages, and getting back to our mission and purpose as the church, which is to be salt and light in a fallen world for Jesus.

But another thing concerns me is that if things don’t change, where are we going? This is one of the most common questions that is asked as well and not many are giving good solid answers. In fact to be honest I myself have more questions than answers at this point in my life. But what I do know is that history is going somewhere and it is going right where God wants it to.

Paul said “for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” 2 Timothy 1:12

Jesus simply tells us to follow him! We may not always know where we are going and we may not always know what he is doing, but one thing we can know is that if we follow him he will lead us to the father and heaven. In the meantime he never promised a smooth ride, but he did promise a safe landing!

What a great reminder…don’t focus on all the questions swirling in our minds but on the One who is the answer.

Amen, great devotion. I agree, Listen to him and for him so we don’t miss his message to us. To follow, you must hear the instructions. He is preparing a place for us to spend eternity. Repent and stay in step so as not to get weak and fall again.
