One of Those Days

Have you ever had one of “those days” when you just wanted to crawl back in bed and cover up your head? Or, one of those days when you wish you could just wake up and start all over? Or, one of those days when you think what else in the heck can go wrong? Well, it was one of “those days”… flat tire… put on the spare and discover you have a screw in another tire and it’s one of the good tires. Now I have no spare and wondering can I make it to the tire shop? Yep, it was definitely one of those days. I was mad and ready to cry and all before 9:00 in the morning. I refused to succumb to the pity party that was brewing so I got up and went outside. Right there in front of me were some of the most beautiful dahlia blooms I had ever grown. Thoughts of flat tires vanished if only for a few minutes. Right there in front of me was a glorious reminder of God’s handiwork. If he cares enough to make such an amazing blossom grow right where I needed to see it, then surely he cares about me.

My pity party turned into one of thanksgiving. I was thankful for a husband who helped change the tire. Thankful for a business who was willing to make repairs on a short notice. Thankful that the tire shop repaired two tires and didn’t charge me a dime. And yes, thankful that they could get me two new tires quickly. Thankful for a God who helped me find joy in a gloomy day. Now I really did want to cry, not out of pity or anger, but tears of joy for a gracious God who loves even me.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Find something to be thankful for and praise God for it.

I love this! God reminds us in various ways that He is always there, we just have to look around us.
