Now Is the Time

As I’ve pondered this devotion, I was drawn back to some notes I’d jotted down with a date of March 6, 2019…about one year from the dreaded pandemic call of March, 2020.  The Lord kept taking me back to one passage from 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 which is, “Since we work together with him, we are also begging you not to receive the grace of God in vain. (2) He says, I listened to you at the right time, and I helped you on the day of salvation.  Look, now is the right time! Look, now is the day of salvation!”   I chose to pull this from my Common English Bible because this translation makes the warning sound much more ominous.

Webster’s Dictionary gives a definition of in vain as, to no end: without success or result.  This is a sobering thought, that I might receive God’s grace in vain….without success or result.  We must share our marvelous message of hope and of the Saviour of whom it tells.

In light of all that has happened within the last year and a half, it is imperative that we not ignore that today is the day of salvation!  Many people are looking for answers and we as Christ followers have the answer and that answer is to know Christ.

As Christians, we remain steadfast in that God is in control, nothing that we see and hear on the news is news to Him.  He has looked down through time to the day in which we are living.  We have the hope of eternal life because of the grace of our loving God.

Don’t take God’s grace for granted and don’t hold onto it for yourself.  Share it so that your receiving it wasn’t in vain.

May this be our prayer as we share Christ with others:

So they can come before You

And worship You with praise,

To come into Your presence, Lord,

And receive Your saving grace.

M.S. Lowndes
