Not Doubtful, But Believing

John 20:24-29
I watched him die,
How could this be?
That he is alive,
That’s what they tell me.
I did not go
To the upper room that day.
I was disappointed so
What’s the use anyway?
He let me down,
I believed all that he said.
Why should I go,
Because now he is dead!
These last eight days
I have lived in despair.
I am in a daze!
Where do I go from here?
But then they tell me,
He is still alive!
What a conspiracy!
I saw him die!
Not it is true!
That’s what they said.
He is risen!
He is back from the dead!
Come to the upper room,
On the first day of the week.
He will appear to us,
He is there when we meet.
I guess I will go,
But will not believe.
Unless I see the scars,
His wounds I have to see.
Now I am here,
But the Lord I do not see.
You said I would see him,
I still don’t believe!
But who is this,
Walking through the door?
It is him!
It is my Lord!
He comes to me,
In my doubt and fear.
I am so ashamed,
But his voice I hear!
Thomas touch me,
Do you now believe?
Look at my scars,
Are they sufficient for thee?
My Lord and My God,
Was all I could say.
What they said was true,
What they saw on that first day!
Thomas you see and believe
He heard his lord say.
But blessed are they who believe,
Who believe by faiths way.
So dear doubting Christian,
Who struggles to believe.
You don’t have to look too far,
Because Christ is risen in thee!
