New Year, New You

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

By this point in January, we have all seen lots and lots of weight loss ads. Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig to name a few are intent on getting us to become new and better versions of ourselves in the new year. Through weight loss we can have a new body and a new outlook! It sounds great, right? Oh, but without continuing to follow the regimens how quickly we can go back to the old self and then it starts all over again.

There are other ways a person can re-create themselves, physically becoming a new person. Some tactics last a while and others quickly fade. BUT, Christ creates us anew once we give our lives and hearts to Him and that change never fades!

Believer’s Bible Commentary puts it this way: “The verse does not describe a believer’s practice but rather his position.“ Notice that the verse states we must be in Christ to be a new creation. That is the position in which we must live to experience the newness. Newness of habits, thoughts and actions should come about with this change.

The familiar scripture from 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 says this: "All of us won’t die, but we will all be changed – in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the final trumpet. The trumpet will blast, and the dead will be raised with bodies that won’t decay, and we will be changed.” (CEB) Now friends, that is a change! A permanent, complete and eternal change.

I am not advocating not eating right, or similar physical improvements, but knowing Jesus as your Savior brings about the true newness of self! This is His promise to whosoever will…and this promise is safe in Jesus’ hands.

Would you join me in this simple prayer?

Dear God, Thank you that you make all things new.

Thank you for all that you've allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things, which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every single day.

On the button devotion. Stay close to him and be ready when he sends that Lost person to you. Witnessing to them and giving them a new life Forever , most likely you are the only who could do the job properly.. Do not be afraid, God’s got it, I know because his word tells us what and when to speak to that Lost person. Pray right now to put that Lost person in your path today, Amen. GO TELL IT.
