Never Too Old

“They will bear fruit even when old and gray; they will remain lush and fresh in order to proclaim: “The LORD is righteous. He’s my rock. There’s nothing unrighteous in him.” Psalm 92:14-15 (CEB)
How old is too old to be of service to the Lord? Well, if you would ask my cousin, Joyce, she would tell you that you can be used until you are called home to heaven. She has recently found a calling on her life to visit nursing home residents and show them love and attention. She has found her praying voice to be bolder than ever, both of these occurring in her early 80’s.
I wrote a book when I was 60 years old, as did my friend, Kathy Crouch. God will use you if you are willing, when the time, His time, is right. Many of you reading this may remember Ruth Bolton. She was a long time member of Crestview Baptist and ministered in many ways. Even when she was up in age and living in a nursing home, she said her work then was to pray for people.
Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters covered the earth. (Gen. 7:6) Moses was eighty and Aaron eighty-three when God called them to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. (Gen.7) We can look at several others whose ages were at the upper end of the scale when God used them.
I love this quote I found on lovegodgreatly.com . It is simple yet profound:
When God gives you the opportunity to serve Him, He looks at your heart, not your date of birth.
Don´t let Satan convince you that you are too old to be used by God. God has a place for everybody and of any age.

Amen!
Wow, Lucy did I ever need this one. Thank you for the gentle reminder that God still has work for us to do, even unto the end. I’m high-lighting the scripture reference. Even though I’m sure I’ve read it, i didn’t remember seeing it.
Thank you for writing this devotion. Those of us who are in the sunset of life still have a lot of work to do for our Lord and Savior. We trust in the Lord and follow his instructions. Most of all we are showing the younger generations how to follow GOD’S commands and needed work. Don’t let fear get in the way of your work. GOD IS IN CONTROL. AMEN.
