Light From Within

“Therefore, see to it that the light in you isn’t darkness. If your whole body is full of light – with no part darkened – then it will be as full of light as when a lamp shines brightly on you.” Luke 11:34-35 (CEB)
Even though Easter is several weeks past now, I find that I keep thinking about this remark that my grandson, Bryson made about a piece of my Easter décor. I have a small ceramic tomb with the stone rolled to one side that I purchased probably two years ago. As we gathered to eat our Easter meal, Bryson saw it on the shelf and brought it over as asked about a light being inside the tomb part. I told him there was no light to which he preceded to inform me that yes, there was a light! He had already found the switch on the bottom and turned on the light! What a surprise that was!
As he placed it into my hands, I marveled at the light…the light from within. There was no dark corner in the tomb, and the light shined right out the opening sharing itself with those of us looking on. Are we not to be the same?
Matthew 5:16 tells us to let our light so shine so others may see … unless we share our light from within, others cannot see Jesus. My then three-year-old grandson unknowingly presented me with a great devotion opportunity!
Granted, this inanimate object had no control over its light spilling outward for all to see but it sure put me to thinking. Our lights should spill right out of us too, in doing so sharing Jesus with a lost friend, neighbor or even somebody not known to us personally. People are watching us especially if we proclaim to be a follower of Jesus.
This simple little song we learned as children is a prayer all by itself. If you can read it without singing it you’re doing better than me, but either way it can be your prayer today.
This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine Oh, this little light of mine I’m going to let it shine
This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine Let it shine, all the time, let it shine

A wonderful story to share again and again with all your littles as they get older. And a great reminder for us older ones.
Thank for your devotion, being a Christian is to be the light for the lost to see by daily and also be the salt of our savior Jesus, Amen
