Let God Do It

I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD, they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.  Jeremiah 29:11 (CEB)

Remember the days when your children and or grandchildren were in the “let me do it” phase?  Well, my grandchildren are in that phase now and it’s “let me do it” or “I want to help” about most things.  Sometimes, I want to just do it for them and move on to the next activity!  They don’t get it done fast enough for me, or in the manner I want it done; therefore I get impatient and want to do it myself.  Now, that sounds like the children!

Brooks and I keep Bryson every day after preschool, so we hear this quite a bit and this week the Lord spoke to me in those words.  How often do I respond the same way to the plans God has already put in place for me?  The scripture above tells us that (1) there is a plan for each of us and (2) it is what is in our best interest.  Peace and hope!

We have been given free will and Joshua 24:15 is a good example of this.  Man’s nature is not to call upon God but to handle things ourselves.  Jesus says in Revelation 3:20 that He stands at the door and knocks.  He doesn’t open the door; WE must open the door and invite Him inside.

Jesus wants to be Lord of your life which includes all things big and small.  The children must be allowed to do some things by themselves in order to learn and develop different skills.  As Christians, we should give the situation, circumstance or the issue to Him first, not as a last result.

If you find yourself trying to solve your problems on your own, perhaps this poem will help you put things in the proper light.

When I’m feeling tired, overwhelmed with my life I give it all to Jesus ~He takes away my strife.

When I’m feeling burdened, another day alone I can’t do, I give it all to Jesus ~He makes everything new.

When I’m feeling the ache, deep inside my soul, I give it all to Jesus ~He fills the empty hole.

When I’m feeling the weight of the world on my back, I give it all to Jesus ~He gives me what I lack.

When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I give to Jesus all my strife and then He reminds me . . .with Him ~ there is eternal life!

Great job on this devotion. I like the poem at heart end. Since I have gotten older, I decided to. let

him be the Boss all the time. Pray before starting any job. Amen
