Just Wait A Minute

I’ve heard it said for both North Carolina and South Carolina that if you don’t like the weather Just Wait a Minute and it will change. It’s true. I have witnessed it many, many times. Wake up with temps at or below freezing, by lunch it feels like spring, and by three in the afternoon you’re thinking about turning the AC on. Sometimes you don’t have a clue how to dress in the morning. I think layering must have been invented in the Carolinas. It’s the only way to handle 3 season days. Personally, I like it all. However, those 70’s and 80’s in the middle of February make you itch to get outside and play in the dirt. Those days can come back to bite us if we try to jumpstart the season before the calendar says it’s ok. But, there is something I love about each and every season. What makes it extra wonderful is God’s promise that seasons will continue at basically the same time and in the same order. Even though we may get a false spring or an early fall, it’s all still part of God’s original plan.

Genesis 8:22 says, 22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
Ecclesiastes3:1-11 1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. 9 What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
So hang onto your coat in one hand and flip flops in the other. You never know exactly what the weather will be hour to hour but we can still count on summer to follow spring and fall to follow summer in the big picture. Find something to love about each season and thank God for his masterful plan on this earth we call home.

Great devotional. The scripture made me think of a song. You probably know which one. So much to think on!!!!!
Good reminder Sara. Thank you!
