2Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I had the privilege, along with the rest of our congregation, to hear Second Chance Bluegrass Band play some good ‘ole gospel music. One song they sang was called “Bend in the Road” written by band member, the late Randy Shumaker. There is a story behind the song, and I pray you listen to the story. It’s makes the song much more meaningful. But, it carries a message for us all. So many today, in the hustle and bustle of our daily life, we long to see around the next bend. What is coming? What is going to happen next? When is the other shoe going to fall? Listen to the song. Link copied from YouTube. Click to hear.
God did not make us fortune tellers, or soothsayers, He made us to think, work, trust, and have faith in Him. Oh, we all would love to see into the future but you know, we might not like what we see. It could be worse than what is right in front of us. My daddy always said, "no matter how bad things are, somebody somewhere is worse off than you." He’s right. This is where our faith in our Father, and the grace and mercy that he freely gives, comes into play. My favorite part of the song is “It’s just a bend in the road not a dead end.” Death is inevitable for us all, but as a Christian, it is with grateful joy that we rest assured that our earthly death is not the dead end, just a “Bend in the Road” on the way to Heaven.

The Bend in the Road
By Helen Steiner Rice
Sometimes we come to life's crossroadsAnd we view what we think is the end.But God has a much wider visionAnd he knows that it's only a bend-
The road will go on and get smootherAnd after we've stopped for a rest,The path that lies hidden beyond usIs often the path that is best.
So rest and relax and grow stronger,Let go and let God share your loadAnd have faith in a brighter tomorrow-You've just come to a bend in the road.
