Jesus Wept

As I sat reading, I came across the shortest verse in the Bible. John 11:35 says, “Jesus wept.” How often have you stopped to think about the fact that Jesus wept? Not just once but several times. I don’t know about you, but when I get mad, I cry. When I am in pain, I cry. When I watch a sad or sappy movie, I cry. When I cry, I cry ugly, wet, snotty, tears. It’s not a pretty sight.
Jesus cried. It’s hard to think of our Lord Jesus as crying wet, snotty, tears. But, it’s written right there in the book of John. Jesus actually cried and more than once. He felt pain, sadness, anger, disappointment, grief; all the things we feel that makes us cry. Jesus knew Lazarus was dead before he got the word but still, He cried. He knew Lazarus would live again but, He cried. He knew that death on earth was not forever. Yet, He cried.
Philippians 2:5-8 “Have this in mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of man. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
Just as tears cleanses us of our emotions, Jesus’ blood cleanses our soul.
Thank you Jesus for your tears and for washing my sins away making me white as snow with your blood. I cry when I think of what you did for me and us. Thank you for each drop of tears and your shed blood, thank you Father GOD. Great devotion, we all need reminders. Amen
