It’s What Ed Said

“Sin will take you where you didn’t want to go. It will keep you there longer than you planned to stay. And it will cost you more than you intended to pay.”  Ed Piotrowski FB Page

We have all had our moments with Social Media and News Outlets.  We never really know for sure that what we are hearing or seeing through media is the truth.  There really isn’t such a thing as a newspaper anymore.  Your local radio station may or may not be to your liking.  So, what is a gal to do to get some news?  I do like to know a little about what’s going on in the world or at least in other parts of the state.

A good while back I took to following Meteorologist, Chris Justice, out of Greenville, SC and Ed Piotrowski from Myrtle Beach, SC.  Both men come across as genuine and knowledgeable as well as having some much needed, common sense.  Ed, does a lot to highlight the community and surrounding areas, with what we used to call current events.  He frequently shares weather related photos from his viewers and also shares stories about his mama and daddy.  He is just a good southern guy keeping it real.  If you live along the SC coast then you know, “that’s what Ed said.”  Yes, it’s a cool catch phrase.  But, reread the quote at the top. Now, Ed may not be the original writer of this sentence but I’m giving him credit.

Think on that quote for just a moment.  There is so much truth in that one sentence.  First you have to understand what sin is.  Sin is doing that which is contrary to God’s word.  Well if you don’t know or understand God’s word, then you may be in trouble.  Sin separates us from God.   However, God made it simple.  The Ten Commandments do an excellent job of keeping us on the right track.  Only ten!  Sometimes I sin so quickly, I don’t even think about it till it’s too late.  You heard right.  Being a Christian does not mean we get a free pass to do as we please.  When we sin, we are removing ourselves from the presence of God bit by bit.  Repentance moves us closer.  We are not perfect and never will be.  We must be diligent in our efforts to do right, live right, act right, and speak right.  We may never know who is watching.  We may never know who is listening.  We may never know what the real cost is for disobedience is until we stand before the Lamb’s Book of Life.  “Sin will take you where you didn’t want to go. It will keep you there longer than you planned to stay. And it will cost you more than you intended to pay.”   It’s what Ed said but more importantly what did God say?
