In His Will

In the midst of my prayer time, I realized that my requests were mostly please do, please heal and sometimes please fix whatever situation and person I was praying for. I had skipped the “if it is Your will” in my prayer requests. I hope I am not the only one who has done this! So often, we are so hoping and praying for the answers WE want that praying in His will gets left out of our requests.
Our will and the Father’s will most times are not in agreement. We want things our way but God is not like Burger King. We can’t see the future, nor do we know God’s plan in the lives of those we are praying for. This is where our faith comes in. We must have faith when we pray for His will to be done that He knows what is best. There are promises in Scripture that can help us to be sure of this. Isaiah 55:8-9 is one passage we can look to. “My plans aren’t your plans, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my plans than your plans.” (CEB)
We also know that God works all things together for our good for the ones who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) Another reminder comes from James 1:17 and it says, “Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all.” (CEB) The Father desires good things for us and by faith we pray in His will and expect that He will do what is best.
God knows our frame; He knows as humans we sometimes have a hard time relinquishing to His will. That is why in Matthew 6:9-13 we have the Lord’s Prayer in which we are instructed to pray “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
I am working to remember to do this when I pray. I know that God knows my heart’s desire in my prayer requests before I even voice them. My words now are that even though He knows my heart that it is His will in which I pray. When we don’t have the words to say, or just don’t know how to pray the Spirit prays for us. “We don’t know what we should pray, but the Spirit himself pleads our case with unexpressed groans.” (Romans 8:26) (CEB)
In closing, a good point to remember when praying in His will is this:
Do not be surprised if God’s answer to your prayers is not what you asked or wanted or expected. But what you said you wanted above all was His will to be done. www.crosswalk.com

Thank you, Amen, your Will be done.
