How Long Oh Lord!

Psalms 13:1,2; Matthew 24:13
I hear people ask quite often “How much longer will we have to put up with Covid?” I think we all are tired and tired of it! We thought that by now we would be in a post pandemic world and not have to alter schedules, wait in long lines, deal with food shortages and all the other disruptions to American life as we knew it.
Psalms 13 resonates with us a little more now than ever as we can identify with the impatience of David and the growing frustration fleeing from his enemies. He feels that God has forgotten him (v1), avoiding him (v1), not speaking to him (v2), and allowing his enemy to triumph over him (v2). We may not face a human enemy like David, when he fled from Saul or Absalom, but nevertheless every turn we make we are having to wrestle the the effects of this evil that has been unleashed on the earth.
So how much longer do we have? Have we experienced a permanent change in our way of life? Is this just the beginning of the pestilences of the last days spoken of by our Lord in his Mt Olive Discourse? I don’t know! I am not going to pretend to see into the near future that only God knows the outcome. But I can look into the future far off and know that God will do something about it and our waiting impatiently will come to an end. He will finally come again and bring justice unto all evil and evil doers, and set up his perfect kingdom in which all the earth will know the glory of God.
Until then we must keep in mind the words of Jesus when he said “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” We must make sure that we are steadfastly minded and focused on the prize that is before us and strive to be overcomers. Let us be willing to follow Gods leading, knowing he will help us avoid the obstacles before us. And if we come before mountains that seem immovable, we know for sure that the mountain can be moved and that we will not be moved.
I close with an admonition from the Apostle Paul. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:57-58

We must find our mustard seeds and pray to get the movement we want to see. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen
