How Big Is God?

How big is God? Yes, that is a question that I have been asked by children and even though your gut reaction would be to say, “He is the biggest thing ever”. Children have a hard time with the concept of size and quantity. They have to be able to compare it to something they are already familiar with. For example, when studying dinosaurs, we always used a school bus or a two-story building to get an idea of their size. When it comes to God, we have to understand several different concepts.
Omnipotence: meaning almighty, all powerful and omnipresent: meaning everywhere at once. Wow that is big. But, right from the very beginning, God tells us in Genesis 1:27 So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Wait a minute. What? God created us in His image? I’m not THAT big! How do we wrap our feeble brains around the concept and meaning of God, much less His size?
Now the great thing about 5 and 6-year-olds is that they do not require in-depth definitions and discussions to be satisfied with an answer. So, I usually just say God is the biggest being there is and he is best at everything. It’s complicated for new believers, adults, and seasoned Christians, to comprehend the very being of God. Meditating on that alone can blow your mind.
You may have seen this video, as it has been around for a while but it is too good not to share. Louie Giglio takes the greatness and awesomeness of God and puts some perspective on it in an entertaining and scientific way. I pray, as you go about your day today, ponder the thought of how BIG God actually is. The video is about 40 minutes long so it may be a little much for a devotional but I promise it will be well worth your time when you can watch. God is so BIG, we need to be reminded that we are actually miniscule in our place in his creation, yet we are created in His image. That’s big. Have an enormous day.

Great concept explaining to children about GOD in this devotion. He is so big , he means All
the WORLD TO ME. AMEN.
