He Knows My Name

“Consider the ravens: they neither plant nor harvest, they have no silo or barn, yet God feeds them. You are worth so much more than birds!” Luke 12:24 (CEB)
I was outside a few days ago when a large, graceful crane lifted off from the bank of the pond. Those long wings slowly flapping as it made its way skyward made the takeoff seem effortless. As I stood to watch, a feather fell from its body and floated and swirled until it landed on the ground several feet away from me. All I could think at that moment was that God was aware of the lost feather. He knows the number of hairs upon my head, so certainly He saw that feather fall away. Luke 12:7 assures us of this fact. I picked up the crane feather and carried it into the shop for safe keeping while I thought about what my devotion would be.
The Creator that took such care to provide for the birds and animals cares so much more for me is a sobering thought! God knows every detail about you — your likes and dislikes, personal characteristics, locations, family, and so much more. He’s an expert on you! He could write a book about you. He could write THE book about you. There are over 7.6 billion people on the earth, but He knows you personally and completely.
An interesting fact I found on www.lifeway.com is this:
Blondes have about 150,000 hairs.
Redheads have around 90,000.
If your hair is black or brown, you have about 110,000.
Take a look in the mirror, can you even BEGIN to count the hairs on your head? Well, maybe some people can, but for the most part that is an impossible task. God counts the stars by number, giving each one a name (Psalm 147:4) and this same God loves you and me! Take a few minutes and read on through that Psalm and think as you read, “He knows my name, He knows the number of hairs on my head. He knows me totally and completely.” What am I that God is mindful of me? Oh my, my God is an awesome God!
What truth there is in this verse from a poem by Tommy Walker on www.crosswalk.com :
Dear God, How many children do you have? A million? Billion? Trillion? He says, “Even more than that! I have a multitude no one can number— Ah! And I hold them all in my hand! Not one is forgotten—I know all about them, And I supply every need that they have.”

Well said.
