Handcrafted by The Creator

Have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that you and I were crafted by hand? If you doubt that, read Genesis 1:27. “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” When I read this verse, it takes my breath away. God created ME! God created YOU! That is such a humbling thought. God didn’t have to do that.
I have always enjoyed craft shows and vendor fairs. I love seeing all the different things that people create with their own hands. When I was little we called it handmade and it wasn’t such a pleasant thing. Handmade meant you couldn’t afford the store bought. Now hand-made is cool. Sometimes it might be referred to as vintage, or artisan made. You might even hear that hand-made means it was crafted with love or artistry. Some folks even have the job title as a crafter. I don’t know that it’s a job title for me because I rarely get paid but that is how I think of myself, as a crafter. I love making things. I love creating a new recipe or tweaking an old one. I love finding a treasure and thinking, I can make this into that. Whether its painting a barn quilt, canning a jar of pickles, or putting together a bouquet of flowers, I think of it as crafting.
God was a CRAFTER! How is that for a realization? God crafted EVERYTHING and then passed along that love and desire to some of his creations. That alone makes me want to weep. God gifted me with the same type of gift that he himself has. Bam! Right between the eyes and straight through the heart… at 59 ½ years old I never once thought of that.
Now don’t get me wrong. There is no way under Heaven that I would ever consider myself in the same realm as God when it comes to creating. My gift is an itsy bitsy, teeny tiny blip in the human world and never in a million years would I count myself as the same as God. That would be unthinkable but, I hope you get my drift here. I am created by God. He created all that is around me. He created me to enjoy creating as well. That is mind blowing!
I’ve read all of the verses below and many more, but not once have I ever thought about God as a crafter. I pray that as you go throughout your day you will find glimpses of God’s crafting in the things you do as well as what you see.
Colossians 1 :16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
1Corinthians 7:7 I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.
Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”

I used to consider myself, as you say, a crafter.
If something crafty came along, you can bet I would try it. As with everything in life some things I accomplished much better than others, but my joy was in making the effort and always having the thrill of seeing that I had made nothing into something that might be enjoyed by family, friends and occasionally bring a bit of cha ching my way.
To my way of thinking crocheting is my favorite for being able to watch a project develop out of thin air from the effort I am making, boo boos included.
I believe God may have felt the same way. He brought the beginnings of His famil…
Love this! Thank you!
Thank you, we are all one of a kind, Amen, thank you Lord
