Guidance

Have you ever considered the direction and leading of God in your life? I will admit all too often I do not give it enough thought. He brought this to mind for me recently.

As I was sitting on my daughter’s screened porch enjoying a cup of coffee one cool spring morning, I found myself watching the crows flying, break-neck speed through the trees at the back of her yard. They were coming into the wooded area at what seemed to be top speed and not slowing down to make darts in and out of the trees. Not one of those crows hit a tree as they flew. They appeared to be guided by an unseen force.

We too, are guided by an unseen force – Jesus. That is true if you are one of His children. How often do we go through life, flying as the crows, at turbo speed, dodging obstacles along the way? My question now is, am I the only one to have taken my eyes off the Lord and had a collision? Can this be avoided? I would like to think that yes, collisions with the obstacles of life can be avoided. I would like to consider that Psalm 37:23-24 gives us this truth; “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.” Though such a man may fall into trials and tribulations, he will never be engulfed by them, for the Lord holds him securely by His hand.

Another scriptural example that God leads us is found in Isaiah 48:17, “Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.” Wow! Jehovah God, the creator of the earth, the sun, moon and stars; the One by whom everything was made loves us enough to care to teach and lead us, His children. That thought should thrill our soul!

The next time you feel that you are running, or flying through life non-stop remember that He who holds the world in place, He who sends the rain and the sun, knows exactly where you are and what obstacles you are approaching.

Reconsider the words of Psalm 37 and know without a doubt that He is faithful to His promise and He will hold you in His hand.
