Good News!

John 16:33 - the Good News.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

We could all use a little good news, right? Who doesn’t love hearing some good news. I was camping near where my mother lives. She has lived alone for the better part of the last 36 years. I called her and told her I was coming for the day. She asked me what was I cooking for lunch and said she had a few things she wanted me to do. She’s 87 and she always needs a little help to get the big things done like resetting the digital alarm clock. J One thing that always stands out when I’m there is the fact that she keeps the TV tuned to one of the news stations. Sometimes the volume is muted but most times it is not. She is constantly fussing at whatever is on the news. She hates seeing the same commercials over and over again. I have begged her to turn it off during the day but she refuses to learn how to use her radio and CD player.

I’ve tried to explain to her that nothing good is ever discussed on the news. Daily news is a wash, rinse, repeat. Oh, there might be a miraculous kitten rescue or something but sorry, I don’t consider that news worthy. She moans and is distraught over the condition of our country. I try and tell her to think positive and I always remind her of the good news.

What good news you might ask. My daddy always said that no matter how bad something or someone was, there is something or someone worse off. He is exactly right. We just can’t get out of our own little world and see it.

Proverbs 25:25 Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Proverbs 15:30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

These verses above refresh my soul and remind me that The Good News is right before us. This verse tells us that we just have to pray, be patient, and have faith.

John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

This is truly GOOD NEWS! Be of good cheer and keep watch for the good in the world.

Knowing our Lord is in control, is the best news. With all the problems in our country, Romans 14:11

says every knee shall bow to me and every tongue shall confess to GOD. HE KNOWS EVERYTHING.

Amen
