God Trust You...Do You Trust Him?

Job 2:1-10
This is quite a dialogue taking place here in our text. It is one of those conversations that takes place in the mystical world around God’s throne. The sons of God and Satan have appeared before God and must give an account unto him of their activities.
When God asked Satan “From where have you come?” Satan responds by saying “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” Then God says “Have you considered my servant Job?” Satan, the adversary and accuser brings forth a false accusation by saying “Skin for skin all that a man has he will give his life for but stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh and he will curse you to your face.” God said “Behold he is in your hand; only spare his life.”
There are two questions that I want to encourage you to reflect on today as you read this text.
First, we have heard about Job’s faith in God; but what about God’s faith in Job? Job was a man of integrity. The description of him from the mouth of God was that “there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil.” God knew Job’s character and trusted him in a time of testing, just as Job knew the character of God and trusted him. Job knew that God’s grace and mercy was sufficient. The first thing we learn is that in our relationship with God, trust works both ways.
Secondly, How do you respond to affliction? What is your attitude when all of a sudden things take a turn for the worst? There are given unto us two examples in this chapter:
· Job’s wife’s response “Curse God and die.”
· Job’s response “Shall we receive good from God and shall we not receive evil”? Then it says “In all of this Job did not sin with his lips.”
So which way do you respond to suffering and affliction? Job’s faith or his wife’s impatience and despair? Do you trust God as much as he trust you? Remember the words of the apostle Paul to the Corinthians:
“There is no temptation overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Remember God is faithful and he trust you? The question is do you trust him?
Pastor Robby

God knew beforehand how Job would respond. Satan did not know. This really made me think this morning. How quick I am to make a judgement on someone even if it’s just in my own mind. I am so very weak.
