God is in the Details

The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Psalm 37:23 (NLT)

God delights in every detail of my life? That He does! In addition to the scriptural promise above, Paul David Tripp, in his devotional book New Morning Mercies, makes this statement: “Yes, God cares about your present life. He gives you grace for this moment. Right now he is with, for and in you.” Brooks and I found this to be true in our everyday lives recently.

Back in the fall, we discovered that we had developed a mold problem in the crawl space of our home. After Brooks saw what he felt like was mold, we proceeded to test with a couple of in home mold test kits. In a few days, our fears were confirmed…mold!!

Our next step was to have the crawl space company take a look and set us up to get cleaned up and follow that with new duct work for the heating and air system. Initially, the crawl space people scheduled their work for the week before Christmas. This meant in addition to not being able to keep Bryson at my house, there would be limited celebrations held during the holiday season. As hard as he could, Brooks tried to coordinate the heating/air people within the time that had been scheduled but to no avail. They just couldn’t get to us during those dates; this forced us to go into January before the repairs could be done.

During the week of this work, we would have no heat provided by the heat pump because all the old duct work had to come out. Then at least 3 days of crawl space work, followed by the installation of new duct work. Had this occurred during the original dates it would have fallen during those days we had such frigid temperatures! As it was, the week this work was performed the weather was mild and Brooks and I were very comfortable using just our gas logs and an electric heater in the bedroom and bathroom area. God was taking care of us when we couldn’t get the workers schedules to agree. He was taking care of the details when we were able to use our heating system during the nights of extremely low temps. He took of the work details, too – everything was completed with a day to spare!

Ecclesiastes 3:7 says there is a time for tearing and a time for repairing; God knew what those times needed to be to enable us to be kept warm enough in our home. We knew we could have stayed with Blair and Michael, but everybody prefers being in their own house I believe.

This may seem trivial to some, but to know that the great God Almighty, creator of heaven and earth takes notice of my needs is ….well, just awesome!

He does take care of us daily, sometimes we notice it happening and sometimes not. He takes of us just as he does with the birds of the fields, Amen. Thank Lord.
