From Death to Life

It was cold and gray so the pond looked bleak in the light of the midwinter afternoon. I studied the plant life that circled the pond’s edge; it was ragged, tired and dead in its appearance. It made me think of how I must have seemed to God before I knew Jesus as my Saviour; before I had been forgiven and made righteous in His sight. Righteous, only through the blood of Jesus.

I knew this vegetation would soon begin to show forth the tiniest signs of life. Bit by bit as the weather warms toward spring, shoots and sprigs will become visible among that which seems dead. How much this is like the transforming that occurs once we accept Jesus. At the very moment we utter the words “come into my heart Lord Jesus”, our lives are immediately transformed!

What an amazing love! That in our “deadness” Jesus comes into our hearts and washes them with His shed blood so that when our Heavenly Father looks upon us He sees us dressed in robes of white, clean and pure. We find this truth in Ephesians 2:4-5, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, (5) Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace are ye saved;).

Today can be the day your life is changed by God’s great love. If you want life to replace the barren, desolate turf of your heart I invite you to whisper this simple prayer and by grace receive salvation.

Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Help me to live for you the rest of this life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
