Finding Jesus in the Flowers

There is just something spectacular about a field of sunflowers. Knowing that tiny seed sprouts and grows in to one of the most cheerful flowers I know. And yes, I think of them as cheerful. Now, my brothers plant sunflowers almost every year just an acre or two, and every year I ask permission to cut some for church. Of course, they say yes. This year as I was out selecting blooms I kept seeing the ones that had not opened yet and the ones only partially opened. I was hot, tired and was dreading the two-hour drive home. As I was looking I was also taking pictures. All of a sudden, I was like, “there has to be a children’s sermon here”. I snapped pics, cut the blooms and sent to my friend Deann. I asked her if she could make a sermon out of these flowers. In less than 3 seconds she replied, "YES!"

Now for part two of the story. I sometimes do the children’s sermons too, but as I was wandering the field thoughts were just zipping in and out. Nothing would come together so that’s why I sent to Deann. At the time I sent to her, she was power-walking on the beach and said she was trying to come up with a sermon. Now I’m not going to replay the lesson. I want you to walk away knowing that it’s okay to hand off. I felt God was guiding both of us and we both had parts to be put together. Needless to say it was an awesome moment that God put together. WE are not always a happy, clappy church but on this day Deann got a gracious and resounding applause from the congregation and a few tears as well.

So back to Finding Jesus in the Flowers, when you feel a nudge, an idea, opportunity to spread some Jesus, you go with it. He will not lead you wrong.

I could not watch the video, but thanks for sharing about flowers. God’s beauty is everywhere, we just need the correct attitude to see it fully. I love to watch the little hummingbirds every morning checking all Linda’s flowers. One of God’s gifts to mankind, Amen, watch for GOD.
