Faith in the Midst of Reality

“Faith is not denying reality. Faith is believing God in the midst of the reality.” Robby Stewart

This quote about faith popped out during a recent sermon. You often hear people say have a little faith or, don’t lose faith, and faith will sustain you. When we are in the middle if a crisis, traumatic event, or some such trouble, these might not be the most comforting words. However, having faith and understanding exactly what it is and what it does can calm the soul and bring you peace in the moment.

I urge you to look up Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary’s definition of Faith. These are just some of the highlights. Faith: to trust, to persuade, to draw near, to believe, to obey. The assent of the mind to the truth of what God has revealed. Simple belief in The Bible.

Read Romans 5:1 Being justified by faith

Hebrews 11:1 Without faith it is impossible to please God.

2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith and not by sight.

Roman10:6 With the heart of man believeth to righteousness.

“The faith of the gospel is that emotion of the mind, which is called trust or confidence, exercised toward the moral character of God, and particularly to the Savior.” Noah Webster

My own personal favorite is: Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible. Faith is a part of our own physical nourishment. IF YOU CANNOT SEE GOD IN ALL, YOU CANNOT SEE GOD AT ALL! How profound is that. Your faith is what allows you to know that God. Is. In. it. All! Not the big things, not the little things, but ALL of the things. Our faith sustains us even when we don’t know we need it. So, the next time someone says, “Keep the faith”, they are simply reminding you to draw near to the one in whom our faith exists. Amen
