Endless Ripples

From the spot the pebble hit the water the ripples expanded across the surface of the pond. Ever widening, the concentric circles were hypnotic and set my mind in motion. Our lives are like those ripples reaching out from each of us and touching people we know and sometimes those we do not know. As Christians, our lives should show a life lived for Christ and in living in such a manner we have an effect on anyone we come in contact with.

We do not always see that last ripple that forms from the thrown pebble and in the same way we will not always know how people we have come in contact with have responded to the example we showed them. How others are touched by our actions or words we may not know until we see those results in heaven.

What we do know is this, “We are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.” Ephesians 2:10 (CEB) It is an enormous responsibility when I think I portray the Gospel in what I say and do. Our job is to continually cast ourselves upon the water and put in motion those ripples that God can direct towards others saved or unsaved.

In my thoughts of water and rock, I found myself considering the idea of Christ as a rock, as I mentioned in a previous devotion. Not only is He a rock, our rock; look at his arrival on earth and what a ripple His life produced and still produces! Christ is the ripple of all ripples, His life and ministry continues to reach people today!

The influence, that expanding ripple that God has begun in your life can affect many: friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and strangers.

What kind of ripples are you setting into motion by words and works for Christ? You may not see the shore on which each rippling wave lands, but the shore where you stand right now is where the ripple begins.

Great devotion, one question for you. Are you making Any ripples at all? Sad to say a lot of Christians are not making any ripples for our Savior. Move closer to him and show your Love to him, he will guide you to that lost one that needs YOU. Amen

Wow… this one is exceptional and made me think of something another pastor said. I think I’ll write about it. Thanks for inspiration. And this is so very true.
