Dare to be Red

A few days ago, while we were out for an afternoon jaunt around our property I spied a burst of red amongst several branches of still green leaves. It really grabbed my attention, so I spun the golf cart around for a closer look. There, just on the edge of the woods was a single branch of red leaves surrounded by leaves of green. I snapped a picture for later use! The more I thought about what I’d seen, the more I was reminded of Paul’s admonition in Romans 12:2, “and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” This means that we as Christians are not to allow the world to squeeze us into a mold of its own.
How, then do we prevent being molded by this world in which we live? We must study God’s word and think like God thinks. As we experience the direct guidance of God in our lives, we will discover His will is that which is good, acceptable and perfect.
My encounter with these leaves of red also brought to mind something my Mama said to me many times, “if everyone else jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?” In other words, don’t be like everyone else be different! This is exactly what we are called to be, different! Don’t follow what the world offers. We have to be in the world, but not OF the world.
So, like my little patch of red amidst all the green, dare to be a standout! Dare to be different, dare to be a Daniel!
Dare to be a Daniel Dare to stand alone Dare to have a purpose firm Dare to make it known. P.P. Bliss

Thank you all for your comments, I appreciate the encouraging words!
Janice and l went outside to sit in our swing. It was the third of September and we noticed in our little flower garden that l fixed in memory of my mother that three of the azaleas were blooming. This reminds me that when the end is near you will not be able to tell the time of year by the buds of the trees . THANKS BE TO GOD!
A unique find, Lucy, and a wonderful application. We are not to be like the world and do as the world. Peter said, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (I Peter 2:9). May we start this week with these scriptures from Romans and I Peter strongly implanted in our minds and may our conversation be guided accordingly.
What a great devotional! I find so much in nature, to be in awe of. So glad you captured that scene. God put that spot of color right where he knew it would stand out. And it was good!
Amen, I saw he same thing yesterday, as Linda traveled between our second & third churches, except at the very high top was a patch of green.I slowed down for a better look. This reminded me of Psalm 30:1 Lord lift me up above this world. We had just sung the song Lord lift me up and place my feet on the rock. Use your P&P to guide you, Prayer & Personal witnessing helps us stay above this old world around us. Thank you for this great devotion, have a great day.
