Congratulations!

What is the one thing we pray for when we pray for our children and grandchildren? For me, it is that they fall in love with Jesus and serve Him all the days of their life. Two of my precious grandchildren have received Jesus into their tender hearts and one has been baptized. The other one will be baptized very soon.

On one of our recent trips to Georgia, Jeff and I were blessed to take part in an amazing celebration. Our twelve-year-old grandson, Reid, has not only given his life to Jesus, but he just completed reading the entire Bible from beginning to end.  He spent one year reading the scriptures and never missed a single day!

On previous trips to Georgia, as well as our family’s yearly trip to the beach, we might be watching a ball game or tennis match on TV and suddenly, Reid would go missing. When asked about his disappearance, we were told that he went to his room to read the Bible. All I could say was “wow!”

Reid and Jeff recently went on a camping trip, and they unfortunately got caught in the path of Hurricane Helene. Cell service was cut off and the only thing that upset Reid was the inability to use his Bible App to read the day’s scriptures. Fortunately, Jeff had packed a tangible Bible, so Reid was able to carry on.

The night we gathered to honor Reid for his great accomplishment, he was given many cards from friends, family, and pastors all containing words of encouragement to let him know how important this endeavor at such a young age really is. How many of us can say we have read the entire Bible from beginning to end? How many of us did so at a very early age?

I am so incredibly proud of Reid, and I know that God has amazing plans for his life. My challenge to him is to be still and listen as God guides him in the days ahead. He has been chosen, called, and commissioned to spread the Good News and the best part is …He’s read all about it! I was able to put my poetry into words of praise for him and the title speaks for itself.

 Hallelujah!

The seeds have been planted,

In your young tender heart.

God knew you would do it,

He knew from the start.

Through much dedication,

And the zeal to push through.

You’ve read the whole Bible,

And we’re so proud of you!
