Condoning What Scripture Condemns

Lately our pastor has been on a roll. He takes God’s word and puts it straight out there just as it is written. No ands, ifs or buts, just straight up God’s word and how it should guide us in thinking and doing. My former pastor, Dr. Bill Moore, recently posted this quote, “Condoning what scripture condemns is a lot of things, but love it is not.” Read it again! “Condoning what scripture condemns is a lot of things, but love it is not.” In these current times we are faced with many actions and events in our life that 20 to 30 years ago, as Christians, we would never have condoned. Things in our society such as politeness, appropriate dress, etiquette, sexual awareness, pregnancy out of wedlock, have all deteriorated. Shame no longer exists. It has come in incremental bits and pieces; so slowly, and intently that you almost didn’t notice. Now we are bombarded with all kinds of ungodliness, so often that we just turn a blind eye. That is not love.
I remember seeing the first Calvin Klein underwear ad. It was shocking! But there was no shame on Klein’s part. They didn’t care. Before long the Victoria’s Secret fashion show was aired on TV. Holy moly, even I thought it was almost porn. Victoria doesn’t have any secrets anymore. Now we have the LGBTQ…XYZ, whatever they want to call themselves, shoving their lifestyle CHOICES in our face at every turn. Every channel, every commercial, every movie, every TV series from the last 10+/- years has to demonstrate at least one ungodly lifestyle as normal. They are trying, successfully, to make us think that it is normal and that if we don’t agree with them then, we as Christians, are hypocrites because we aren’t loving them. The media condones what God has condemned. We are condemned if we don’t condone their ungodly lifestyle.
Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” All of the sexual disfunction, the inability to determine your own gender, multiple children out of wedlock, abortion at will, and the list goes on and on; it is all ungodliness. We can find all kinds of excuses for the abnormalities occurring in our society but there are no excuses. It all about choices and whether or not we have been taught how to make the right choices. We must stand firm in The Word. We must teach what the Bible says. We must extend the hand of fellowship but we must not allow that which God has condemned be condoned in our worship. We must put God first. We have lowered our standards. God has not lowered his.
I find comfort in knowing that God is in complete control and that He has already overcome the world but, we must continue to be the light on the hill. That is what love is, being the light on the hill.

Absolutely the truth. Wonderful devotion!
You have hit the nail on the head with this! Great devotion!
People want their constitutional rights and that is good but they need to use the Bible for the truth. Gods word is better.
Nailed it! Great devotion Sara!
Amen!
