Come Up Hither

Revelation 4:1-5:14

When I envision God’s throne,

What do I see?

I see one like jasper, sardine, and emerald stone,

A rainbow and its beauty.

When I imagine God’s throne,

What do I see?

Twenty-four elders in white and gold,

With lighting and thundering.

When I meditate on God’s throne,

What do I see?

A sea of crystal glass brightly shone,

And four beasts, full of eyes, crying Holy, Holy, Holy!

When I gaze upon God’s throne,

What do I see?

A slaughtered lamb who for my sins atone,

The one who died for me.

When I behold God’s throne,

What do I see?

A roaring lion sitting all alone,

The lion who gave me victory.

When I look around God’s throne,

What do I see?

A multitude of tongues, and nations joined in song,

Singing the praise of God in jubilee.

Finally, I search around God’s throne,

And who do I see?

Those who have run their race and are gone,

And myself in eternity!
