Climate Change or Longing for Redemption

Romans 8:18-28

The modern liberal today will tell you that the increase of natural disasters and catastrophes are due to Global Warming or Climate Change. Biblically I believe that it is the earth and all of creation longing for change…The glorious change from the old heavens and earth to the new heavens and new earth.

John said “The world is passing away.” As we draw nearer to the end of the age we will see an increase in natural disasters and catastrophes. Jesus in his Mount Olive Discourse said there will be “Wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, and unrest” that would be signs ushering in his second coming. John spoke of the same conditions in Revelation as the The Four horsemen of the Apocalypse began their gallops. These are conditions that will grow worse and worse as time draws near to the end. The knowledgeable Christian knows this and endures it through patience, focus, and prayer.

I do not doubt that the planet is warming. I also do not doubt that man has contributed to some of the changes that we are seeing and the dangers that are lurking. In fact mankind is responsible because of the fall in the garden. The whole creation became subjected to sin through Adam’s transgression. There was an even greater effect upon the earth as a result of the universal flood in Noah’s day as there were great changes in atmospheric conditions and radiation. The immediate reduction in life spans after the flood is proof of this great change in nature.

But yet we cannot give into the politicized idea that what we are experiencing can be turned around and prevented. To show you just how ignorant they are they proclaim that if we don’t make major changes in the next 10-12 years we are doomed. My question is how can we correct what has taken thousands of years to undo in one decade? It is just simply all progressive, liberal, politics! We have not upset mother nature, we have angered Father God! There is nothing we can do to change it because what we are experiencing was foretold in the Bible and it is part of God’s sovereign plan to bring about the new creation.

Creation groans, we groan, and the Holy Spirit groans within us and the hope that we have in all of this conflict, confusion, chaos, and catastrophe is that “…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 It is usually in the bad times that God brings out the best in His people.

So Global Warming or longing for redemption? I say redemption! And it is at moments like this in history where “The redeemed of the Lord should say so!” Psalms 107:2
