Are You a Noah?

A good while back I wrote series of devotions on the book titled “The Fred Factor”. I was basically pointing out the common, everyday things that a lowly postman did on a daily basis to allow God to be seen in his actions and words. They could help us all become “A Fred”. Well, my friend, Lucy Allen, has been writing a series about God telling others to have no fear and she included a devotion on Noah and the Ark. She even referenced her own trip to see the Ark.
I will just say, if you have not been to The Ark, GO! It is completely handicap accessible and anyone from 5-95 will be in awe. Anyways, just go see it if it is doable for you and your family. You won’t regret.
Now back to Lucy’s devotion and thinking on my own trip to the Ark. Noah was a man who was given a monumental task. Every time I think about Noah building the Ark, I cringe at the thought of even knowing where to begin. Noah just did it. Noah would either have been a man of many talents and or God gave him exceptional insight to the project beforehand. I think God did both. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Noah had to eat a herd of elephants. Noah didn’t know what a flood was. He had never seen one. He probably didn’t even know what rain was before the first drops hit the roof of the Ark. Yet, Noah moved ahead. He put the plan into action. There were no architects to draw up the plans. He surely didn’t have a chainsaw or a sawmill and there were no log trucks available to haul the timbers. Again, Noah had a monumental task set before him and he did it.
We know that God gave him the directions and I believe that it was purely God whom bestowed the knowledge, skill, and direction he would need to complete the task. God gave Noah strength, knowledge and know-how. Trying to wrap our little peon brains around it all can cause a headache. Noah had to design and build it A.L.L … Think about it! He had to find, collect, and build EVERYTHING...from the access points, the cages for ALL of the of thousands of animals, living quarters, food storage, food preparation, possible need for heat, water collection and storage, repair shops, bedding for animals, laundry, waste disposal… E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. The only way to do all of this would have been through God.
How many of us have the devotion, faith, and dedication to complete a large task? Through my eyes, in this modern day, with all of the tools and technology available, many people only do the absolute minimum to call the job done. What is truly amazing, is if we could have access to ancestry documentation from the flood forward, every single one of us living right now, could trace our roots back to Noah. Does that thought not stop you dead in your tracks? Every single human being on the planet earth could trace our roots back to Noah! That thought is so very humbling for me. Lucy was right! Noah had no fear except for the Lord. He knew what he had to do. How close do we come to being a Noah?
Lord, help us all be more like Noah.

This made me think of many bridges Noah had to cross that I’d not really considered before. Thank you Sara for bringing it to my mind. Oh to be more like Noah!
Great devotion Pastor, thank all of you who do all these devotional writings, you are all Blessed and Bless us, Amen
