Amen is Where We Begin

Repost worth sharing again... as we come to end of another year. It's never too late to begin.

Psalm 27:6 in part says…”at His sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

“Amen Is Where We Begin” is a Christian song by Pepper Choplin, that I listen to. Our choir has sung it many times. The chorus to this song really hits home. But before you listen to it, ask yourself if you know what the word “Amen” means.

When you hear someone say, “Amen”, it means, it is so or I agree with you. So, when you are listening to someone, usually a preacher or speaker, and you hear someone say, “Amen!” they are driving home the point just made by that person and saying, “I agree”.

Music was an important part of all of the festivals and worship times in the Bible. Most of the Psalms were written as songs or poems that were set to music. Whether you sing well or not doesn’t matter, just sing. Sing your worship and praises to God.

Now, back to my title. What is usually the last word you hear in a worship service? At the end of the Benediction you will hear, “Amen”. As we prepare to leave the worship service, we are entering the world with a fresh opportunity to begin; begin sharing God’s word, begin sharing our skills or talents, begin witnessing to unbelievers. It is an opportunity to BEGIN! My last church had a sign at the end of the driveway, as you were leaving, that said, “You Are Now Entering the Mission Field”. What a fantastic reminder every Sunday. We are the workers in the Mission Field. Amen is truly where it begins for us.

Below you will find the link the song mentioned above. It should open in your web browser. Give it a minute to load. Turn up your sound and have a good listen.

A beautiful job of telling what Amen means in your devotion. I am an AMEN person and not a shame to shout it out in the service. I would like to hear a chorus of Amends echoing with me. Are this others in service not hearing God speaking to them. Put on your listening ears. A= agree with God, M= move with God, E= end with God, N= never doubt God. AMEN, AMEN, AMEN.

Thank you Dale. That’s a good way to remember, too.
