All Things Considered (A Poem)

Psalms 8:1-4; Matthew 6:29-31; Haggai 1:4-8; Romans 8:18

When I consider the heavens,

And survey the earth,

I am overwhelmed by all I see.

But what marvels me most of all,

Is that you are mindful of me!

When I consider the lilies, the grass

And the birds of the air,

I am humbled by what I see.

Because Solomon in his greatest glory,

Could not compare to the glory of these.

When I consider my ways,

My thoughts, my words, my deeds,

I am ashamed by what I see.

Because I have not glorified my God,

After all He has done for me.

When I consider the cross,

And my savior dying for me,

My soul fills with love overflowed like a sea.

Because I see hanging there,

The one who died for me.

When I consider the sufferings of our present time,

The evil, despair, and pain,

I am discouraged by what I see.

But then I am reminded of the glory,

Which will be revealed, when Christ in His glory we shall see.

Having considered all of these,

And pondered to the end,

I know that my life is in God’s hands.

Because from the very beginning,

When before I was known, He considered me to be one of His!
